Graham released a string of great albums starting in the late seventies, in fact Sqeezing Out Sparks is often called one of the best of that 70s-80s new wave era. Sadly, a lot of people lost touch with Graham Parker in the eighties. Poor promotion, label issues, and changing times happened, but luckily for us Graham resisted. He’s been releasing albums ever since and his latest, Cloud Symbols, continues the string of strong songs and albums. He has always had a way with clever and insightful lyrics but also with a catchy hook and a knack for songwriting. And he is doing what he wants to, not whatever is the latest style. In a better world he would be rich and famous, but if cult hero it is, then we here at OWM are happy to be in that cult. Buy this album.
